About TinnitusBuddy
TinnitusBuddy is a free iOS app for tinnitus relief — built by someone who lives with it every day. Tinnitus, the persistent perception of ringing, buzzing, or hissing without an external source, affects an estimated 15% of adults globally. For many, it becomes chronic. That's where this app started.
I've had chronic 24/7 tinnitus for 6-7 years. It started sporadically around ages 7-10 — I'd lie in bed at my grandparents' house after long road trips and hear a loud, piercing ring. I genuinely thought that was normal. It wasn't. In my mid-twenties, it became constant. I've had standard hearing tests that show no obvious loss, though the pitch shifts — sometimes somatic (linked to my jaw), other times not. The cause is likely a mix: TMJ, noise exposure, and possibly some hearing damage I haven't fully mapped yet.
When I looked for apps to help manage it, I found a few options — but none were built around the specific tracking and pattern-finding I was looking for. I work in tech, so I built what I needed. TinnitusBuddy is the result: a simple, privacy-focused app centered on sound therapy tools (white noise, pink noise, nature sounds, notch therapy) and daily symptom logging so you can spot your personal triggers — stress, sleep, caffeine, noise exposure.
The app is free to download, with optional premium features available at $2.99/month or $24.99/year through iOS in-app purchase. No personal health data is shared or sold. The app is developed and maintained by Intuico Digital, LLC.
